about this site
what is this website?
i (brendon) got really bored (and unemployed) waiting for my visa and made a job site that scrapes and lists jobs from (what i believe are) top japan companies, for jobs in japan. they're mainly tech-focused because that's the industry i work in, but if you have any companies that you'd like to see on this website, shoot me an email!
ok, but why?
there's a lot of great sites out there that list good jobs for
foreign workers/companies seeking foreign workers. however, those
job boards are pay-to-post (read: companies pay to put the job on
the job board). this naturally leaves some fantastic japanese
companies in the dark.
i found a lot of these companies during my job search, so i wanted to
create a sustainable way to share these resources and increase the visibility
of these jobs to help fellow job seekers trying to get a job in japan.
beyond this database that i try to upkeep, i also list sites on how i
found these jobs in the
resources
tab. i'm not trying to make any money off this site, so i'm not going
to gatekeep anything that could be of help.
how does it work? why are some of the tags on jobs bogus? why are some of the jobs not in japan?
i have curated a (long) list of top japanese companies, of which the
system automatically scrape their job boards from. an LLM (Gemini)
then tries their best to label their jobs for me to help us search
through the jobs easier.
the system tries it's best to only include jobs that are in Japan or
hiring globally remote. however, as one may know, LLMs hallucinate a
lot, so i (and the system) can only try my best, and the tags may be
inaccurate at times. if you see a job that says 'non japan, remote',
the job is allowed to be there because it said it is remote. just ignore
and don't click on it if its obviously not globally remote, as it probably
won't be of help to you.
it also checks daily and picks up any new job postings from those job
boards, as well as remove any inactive job postings for better signal
to noise ratio.
