Your Role in Our Vision
The Arene Software Production Line (Arene SPL) product is creating and automating code to car software pipelines to continuously build, test, and deliver software to the car. As the responsible software architect of the Software Production Line product, you will create tools and processes to enable safe, secure and automated delivery of production software to vehicles.

Who We're Looking For
As an architect specializing in Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE), you will be responsible for defining, managing, and evolving software product lines to ensure reusability, scalability, and efficiency across multiple product variants. You will lead the architectural design and implementation strategies to create a modular and flexible product line framework that supports various customer needs while maintaining the quality and efficiency of development processes.

You will collaborate closely with tech leads, product managers, and engineers in the teams you support, while also aligning with Arene's Chief Engineer Office (other system engineers and architects) to ensure all teams in Arene follow the same processes and practices.

Reporting to the Chief Architect, this hybrid role allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds—collaborating with talented colleagues in the office at least three days a week while benefiting from flexible working arrangements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Architectural Design: Lead the design and development of flexible product line architectures that support variability, scalability, and the integration of reusable components. Drive the reuse of existing software across multiple products by designing adaptable architectures.
  • SPLE Practices: Implement Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE) methodologies and best practices to optimize the management of software assets. Ensure efficient component handling across product variants while promoting adherence to the Systems Engineering Management Process.
  • Requirements and Documentation: Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to capture business needs and translate them into technical requirements and architectural blueprints. Produce and maintain detailed documentation to ensure seamless alignment between architectural plans and their implementation.
  • Development Guidance: Act as a hands-on leader, mentoring engineering teams in software design and development aligned with the product line architecture. Ensure the delivered software meets both functional and non-functional requirements, while maintaining high performance and quality across product variants.
  • Technology Evaluation & Development: Continuously evaluate, recommend, and develop emerging technologies and tools that improve SPLE processes and enhance the efficiency and flexibility of product line architectures.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture, focused on Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE).
  • Strong knowledge of SPLE methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in UML, SysML, and design patterns for modular architectures.
  • Expertise in scalable, reusable software architecture and component reusability.
  • Leadership with empathy, fostering collaboration and ensuring safety and security.

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive experience in commercial software production and engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in product configuration management and version control systems.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific architectures (automotive, aerospace, telecom, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SPLE standards (ISO/IEC 26550, 26551, 26552) and tools (Gears, Pure::Variants).
  • Understanding of quality management systems and functional safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 62304, SOTIF).

  • If you are located outside of Japan we will set up an interview over Google Hangout Meet.
