The Trust and Safety development team at Mercari is responsible for developing features that ensure safety and security on Mercari and Merpay.
The team works in collaboration with product managers and customer support to carry out the mission of developing the systems for Mercari and Merpay.

Work Responsibilities

Microservice development using Go
I/F design between microservices using Protocol Buffers + gRPC
Operation and maintenance of developed features and microservices
Architecture design and middleware selection based on application requirements
Performance tuning, monitoring, and alert response for microservices

Unique Challenges

The Trust and Safety team develops functions that support all of our businesses, including Hallo, cross-border operations, domestic C2C marketplaces, and Merpay. You can see the impact of your contributions across all the services being developed by the Mercari Group as a whole.
We develop and operate technical infrastructure for stream processing, such as Apache Flink, for fraud prevention. We also work on machine learning infrastructure, allowing you to broaden your technical skill set as an engineer.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills

Designing schemas and writing efficient queries for databases (RDB, NoSQL, etc.)
Experience in operating/tuning web applications and knowledge of security
Experience in designing software architecture and selecting middleware
Ability to drive software development with ownership

Preferred Experience/Skills

Development and operational experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Experience in developing and operating large-scale traffic systems

Language

Japanese:Proficient (CEFR - C1) required
English:Independent (CEFR - B2) required
